What are the Meanings of Accession?

In order to get to know the meaning of the term that concerns us, the first thing we are going to do is determine its etymological origin. In this sense, it must be emphasized that it derives from Latin, more exactly from the word “adhaesio”, which is the result of the sum of three very clearly defined components:
-The prefix “ad-“, which can be translated as “towards”.
-The verb “haerere”, which is synonymous with “paste”.
-The suffix “-cion”, which is used to indicate what is action and effect.

According to Digopaul, adhesion is a term that comes from adhaesĭo, a word from the Latin language. It is about the process and the consequence of joining. This verb, on the other hand, can refer to hitting or binding something or to accepting or supporting a cause.

In a physical sense, adhesion is a property of certain substances that allows them to bond with each other when in contact. According to how it is achieved, the adhesion can be chemical (when linked, the elements develop a compound), mechanical (one substance occupies the pores of the other, achieving union) or other.

Among those others, there are three other types of adhesion, such as the following: –
Diffusive adhesion, which, as its name indicates, is the one that consists of the different elements coming together through diffusion.
-Dispersive adhesion, which refers to the fact that two elements manage to stay together through what are their positive and negative charges.
-Electrostatic adhesion, which is when a force with the same name is created that is responsible for achieving attraction between the different elements.

At the symbolic level, adherence may involve adding to a measure or movement. It is customary to use the concept with reference to work stoppages or strikes: if a worker or union adheres to the measure of force, it means that he will not perform his usual job duties. For example: “Strong adherence to the general strike throughout the country”, “The government minimized adherence to the strike”, “The strike did not achieve the adherence of workers in the gastronomic sector”.

Joining a march or mobilization means participating in it: “The organizers of the protest are surprised by the level of adherence”, “With the adherence of various figures from the entertainment world, the call against gender violence was a success ”, “ We are happy with joining this day of social inclusion ”.

Another use of the concept of accession is linked to the incorporation of something to a larger group or to a certain framework: “The Caribbean country announced its accession to the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America”, “In adherence to an international agreement, the the province will stop using a controversial agrochemical in soybean production ”.

In the last decades there have been important accessions at the economic, political and historical levels. This would be the case, for example, of the one carried out by different countries to the so-called CEE (European Economic Community), which today is called the European Union. Thus, for example, Spain joined that in 1985, after having signed the corresponding and necessary accession treaty, which the other nations that are included in it also had to sign.
