According to andyeducation, Peru has a long history of providing quality education to its citizens, beginning with the Inca Empire which established a system of primary and secondary schools in the 15th century. Today, Peru’s educational system is overseen by the Ministry of Education and is divided into three main levels: pre-primary, primary and secondary. Pre-primary education consists of kindergarten or daycare for children aged 3 to 5 years old while primary schooling covers grades 1 to 6. Secondary schooling covers grades 7 to 12 and focuses on more specialized subjects such as mathematics, science, language arts, social studies and foreign languages. At the tertiary level, Peru offers a range of higher education institutions including universities and technical colleges. The most prestigious universities in Peru are Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia (UPCH), Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru (PUCP) and Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (UNMSM). These universities offer undergraduate degrees in various fields such as business administration, engineering & applied sciences among others while also providing graduate degrees such as master’s degrees or doctorates for those who wish to pursue more advanced studies after completing their undergraduate degree program. In addition to traditional university education, Peru also has several technical colleges which provide students with vocational training in fields such as automotive technology, electronics or computer science that can be used for employment purposes after completing their studies. Technical & vocational courses are offered at both public & private institutions throughout the country ranging from short courses which last several weeks up through diploma programs that take several years to complete. Finally, there are also many private schools throughout Peru that offer international baccalaureate (IB) programs as well as other specialised courses designed to prepare students for success in an increasingly globalised world. These schools often have high tuition fees but they provide access to quality educational opportunities regardless of one’s financial situation or background due to their rigorous curriculums which help prepare students for success at university level studies abroad. Overall the educational system in Peru provides citizens with access to quality educational opportunities regardless of their financial situation or background due to its free primary schooling system which helps promote social mobility within society while also giving students access to higher education institutions which can help them gain skills necessary for certain careers after completing their studies.
