It is compulsory for all children aged 6 to 15 to attend school, and there are several options available depending on the individual’s needs. The University of Bamako is Mali’s oldest and largest institution of higher learning. There are also several smaller universities located throughout the country such as the University de Mopti and Ecole Normale Supérieure de Bamako which specialize in specific fields such as humanities or sciences respectively. Furthermore there are numerous opportunities for postgraduate studies at both public and private institutions including Master’s degrees and doctorates with specializations ranging from medicine to international relations among others. Overall the educational system in Mali provides access to quality learning opportunities for all citizens allowing them to acquire knowledge that will help them prepare for successful careers within their chosen field upon completion of their studies.
