Fayetteville is located in Washington County, Arkansas. Currently, the population is around 70,000, but the entire metropolitan area, including the towns of Springdale and Rogers, has about 430,000 inhabitants. Fayetteville is the third most populous city in Arkansas. It is also an important commercial and economic center of the region, but also a place that is considered ideal for life, work and entertainment. Fayetteville lies in a humid subtropical belt, where four seasons alternate.

The city is served by Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport, which also serves the surrounding cities of Springdale, Bentonville, Rogers and others in northwest Arkansas. The city is crossed by Dickson Street, which is lined with shops and restaurants and stretches downtown to the local University of Arkansas. Hot Springs National Park
