Geography

The world geography is immensely diverse and complex. It encompasses a vast range of physical features, including mountains, deserts, forests, oceans and rivers. Each of these features has its own unique characteristics and has formed the basis for many different cultures throughout history.
Mountains are towering landforms that have been formed over millions of years due to tectonic plate movement and erosion. They provide habitats for a variety of plant and animal species, as well as providing resources such as minerals and water. Some of the most iconic mountain ranges in the world include the Himalayas, Alps, Andes and Rocky Mountains. Deserts are vast expanses of land characterized by extreme temperatures and sparse vegetation. They can be found all around the world in areas such as North Africa, Western Australia and the American Southwest. Despite their harsh conditions, deserts contain a wide variety of animal species which have adapted to survive in this environment. Forests are dense collections of trees that can be found in almost every corner of the globe. They provide shelter for animals while also absorbing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere to help combat climate change. Forests also act as natural barriers against storms and floods which can protect nearby settlements from destruction. Oceans are huge bodies of water that cover 70% of Earth’s surface area. These saltwater bodies contain an incredible array of marine life which provides food sources for humans around the world while also playing an important role in regulating our climate system. The five major oceans include the Atlantic, Pacific, Indian, Arctic and Southern Oceans. Finally rivers are long winding waterways that carry freshwater from source to destination points across continents or countries before eventually emptying into seas or oceans via estuaries or deltas. Rivers provide vital resources to humans such as irrigation water for crops or hydroelectricity generated by dams but they can also cause destruction during floods if not managed properly by governments or local authorities.
